Client Objective:
Chef Vikas Khanna worked with us to transform a run-down commercial space in Chelsea into a formal Indian restaurant. We toured some of NYC’s finest restaurants with Vikas. During Schematic Design, he stressed the collective dining experience.
Design Solution:
This restaurant project focused on one large formal Dining Room which was an interior space between the separate bar/entry and a new full kitchen. There was also a prep kitchen, storage areas and an office in the basement. A screened entrance helped define the plan and an oversized diffuse light and scrim feature hovered above a sea of tables. We led this project through to permit approval and a negotiated contract.
